TESTIMONY OF DIGNA ISAMA

When an emergency arrives, the first thing put to the test is trust. During the days of crisis and strike in Otavalo, many families faced uncertainty and scarcity. In the midst of this context, God’s mercy and provision became visible in very concrete ways.

Digna Isama, from the community of Cachiculla and mother of two children aged 7 and 10, has been part of the Life Farms program of Pan de Vida since the beginning of this year. Her process has been marked by commitment and consistency: she began with a multiplication Life Farm, progressed to a full Life Farm, and later reached the level of an ideal Life Farm, reflecting her growth and responsibility within the program.

During the emergency in Otavalo, Life Farms became a true blessing for many families. In Digna’s case, her Life Farm allowed her household not to worry about access to food, as she was able to harvest directly from home, ensuring daily provision in a time of crisis.

But Digna was not only a beneficiary; she was also part of the response. As a champion, she actively participated in the delivery of emergency aid, supporting and accompanying other families in her community. Her willingness to serve reflected how, when God provides, He also raises up people who are willing to share and serve.

The emergency response of Pan de Vida, together with the previous accompaniment processes, enabled families to face the crisis with greater security and dignity. This work was possible thanks to the combination of God’s provision, the commitment of people like Digna, and the Pan de Vida’s integral support.

Her story reminds us that in times of emergency, Life Farms not only nourish bodies, but also strengthen faith, solidarity, and hope. When God provides and a community responds, mercy multiplies.
