Not everyone who walks through a hard season knows what comes next. But sometimes, all it takes is the right opportunity—and someone willing to believe in you.
That’s the heart behind Pan de Vida’s Shark Tank. Participants in our Microenterprise Program spend the semester learning what it takes to start and grow a small business. They develop a business idea, build a plan, strengthen their entrepreneurial skills, and learn how to confidently present their vision. At the end of the program, they pitch their projects to a panel of judges for the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality. It’s practical, challenging, and, for many of the women we serve, it’s the first time someone has looked at their dream and said, this is worth investing in.
This semester, Susana Chapid made the most of that opportunity.
Susana is a single mother of two who has worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Even with the demands of daily life, she faithfully attended every class, took notes, asked thoughtful questions, and continued refining her business long after each session ended. When it was time to present her project, she arrived with more than an idea—she brought a scale model of her farm, a carefully prepared business plan, and even one of her hens to demonstrate her vision. It was clear she had poured her heart into this dream.
Susana won second place this semester’s Shark Tank competition with La Granja Feliz (The Happy Farm), an egg production business she is passionate about building. As part of her award, Pan de Vida is providing the seed funding and resources she needs to launch her business, helping transform a promising idea into a sustainable source of income.
Today, Susana is working to turn that winning pitch into lasting financial stability for her family. As she grows her business, Pan de Vida will continue walking alongside her through mentorship, encouragement, and practical support every step of the way.
